Métis Family Scrip Open Call
open from May 6, 2019 - Jun 2, 2019

I am looking for volunteer submissions of Métis scrips within your family member archives, to be shared within a public art piece. The scrip contributed by you or your family will be placed alongside other scrips onto the glass of new Markham Bus Shelter in Winnipeg, MB. This collaborative work will be part of the current and historical Métis effort regarding land rights that I am exploring for the concept of this transit station artwork. This artwork looks at the complex discourse that identifies our lineage as Métis people along with the difficulties and controversy associated with the scrip program enacted by the Federal Department of the Interior that was issued between 1876 to 1924.
